The FPI Consortium, Inc. is excited to announce the opening of our new office in the Jacksonville/St. Augustine, FL area! Sarah Reiff Swan has relocated to the area and agreed to open an office for us to better serve our clients in the southeast. She is available to assist with any fire protection, life safety, and building code issues, and her experience with code compliance, hazardous material protection, performance-based design, and alternative means analysis will guarantee that you have experience on your side when needed. Her thoroughness and understanding of the codes promise to continue to support the company philosophy of "No surprises". Reach out to Sarah to discuss how we can help your project and ensure there are no surprises in receiving your certificate of occupancy.
In the late 80’s, early 90’s, the fast response sprinkler concept became an industry practice as many of our clients installed either quick response sprinklers in the racks or Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) sprinklers at the ceiling of their warehouse. The time for testing these sprinklers is now.
The National Fire Protection Association Research Foundation recently published "Obstructions and ESFR Sprinklers - Phase 1." This study was initiated to develop a tool that could be used to provide reliable analysis of the impact of obstructions on ESFR sprinklers based on existing test data and to develop technical information for the NFPA 13 Technical Committee to assist in the development of new requirements and guidance. The document is available on the NFPA website.
Congratulations to Carl Anderson, Principal of The FPI Consortium, Inc. who served on the Project Technical Panel.
