The National Fire Protection Association Research Foundation recently published "Obstructions and ESFR Sprinklers - Phase 1." This study was initiated to develop a tool that could be used to provide reliable analysis of the impact of obstructions on ESFR sprinklers based on existing test data and to develop technical information for the NFPA 13 Technical Committee to assist in the development of new requirements and guidance. The document is available on the NFPA website.
Congratulations to Carl Anderson, Principal of The FPI Consortium, Inc. who served on the Project Technical Panel.

In the late 80’s, early 90’s, the fast response sprinkler concept became an industry practice as many of our clients installed either quick response sprinklers in the racks or Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) sprinklers at the ceiling of their warehouse. The time for testing these sprinklers is now.
